Benefit Concert “Sing for Hope. Greatest Opera Singers for Jacek Janiszewski”
On 4th of June 2016, at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio in Warsaw, the Benefit Concert “Sing for Hope” took place. This event is a part of the “Aid for Jacek Janiszewski” campaign. The initiator of the campaign is Tadeusz Deszkiewicz, Director of RDC Radio. The idea of supporting the artist in need motivated the artistic society to actively participate in the campaign.
Owing to Alicja Węgorzewska-Whiskerd’s initiative, PhD, Director of Mazovian Music Theatre, the remarkable concert Greatest Opera Singers for Jacek Janiszewski was organised. Thirty singers performed the repertoire of the most beautiful opera and operetta pieces that touched everyone’s hearts and most of all – gave hope. For the first time, so many wonderful singers performed at one stage, making this concert the Europe-wide event.
Jacek Janiszewski is well known by the opera aficionados from numerous ravishing roles in masterpieces of such composers as Puccini, Bizet, Rossini, Verdi. His greatest success is the performance in Hanover State Theater in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail opera. He also performed in two parts of Piotr Rubik’s and Zbigniew Książka’s Tryptyk Świętokrzyski. Unfortunately, the serious illness ceased his career. The greatest opera and operetta artists answered the invitation of Mazovian Music Theatre’s Director and helped Jacek by showing their support and solidarity.
During the concert, the auction of albums, painting and CD’s took place. The auction’s objects were delivered by the artist’s friends.
The event was recorded by TVP 3 and live broadcasted by RDC Radio and web portal Niezalezna.pl.
All the performers that took part in the concert renounced their fees and donated them on artist’s account.
