Edyta Piasecka – coloratura soprano
The soloist of the Polish National Opera in Warsaw. She performs at the stages of the largest opera houses in Poland and abroad. She has participated in many festivals both in Poland and abroad. She cooperated with the Great Theatre in Łódz, The Krakow Opera, The Baltic Opera, the Silesian Opera in Wrocław, Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic and the National Theatre in Budapest. She has won many awards, i.a. 1st place at the “Master Course for Opera Singers”, organized by professor Ryszard Karczykowski (1997), Special Award for the best female voice (participation in concerts within the cycle of “Promotion of Polish Talents” in Austria) in 1998, nominated for the award “PASZPORTY POLITYKI” in the category “Classical Music” (2004), award of A. Hiolski for “Operatic debut at the Polish National Opera” (2008), the Award of “Star of vocalism” of 47th Jan Kiepura Festival in Krynica. A graduate of the Voice and Drama Faculty at Academy of Music in Kraków. During her third year of studies she has already debuted at the Krakow Opera with the role of the Queen of the Night in “The Magic Flute”. In 1997, she began working with the Lower Silesian Opera in Wrocław, where she made her phenomenal debut in the part of Rosina in the “Barber of Seville” and Frasquita in “Carmen”. Since 1999 she was a soloist of the Krakow Opera. In 2003, she has made a daring debut at the Polish National Opera in Warsaw with the role of the Countess di Folleville in the Polish premiere of “Journey to Reims”. During the festival “Sacrum Profanum” in Kraków she took part in the “Carmina Burana” show. She was awarded with the invitation for the concert “Last Night of the Proms In Cracow 2003” under the direction of M. Fitzgerald from NOSPR. During the second edition of the festival “Sacrum Profanum” she starred in Mozart’s “Requiem”. In July 2005, she participated in the “Internachionale Orgel Woche Musica Sacra” in Nuremberg performing the Mahler’s Symphony No.2 in C minor.
In 2005, Piasecka participated in the prestigious “Festival delle Nazioni in Citta di Castello” in Italy. In 2007, at the Polish National Opera in Warsaw, the premiere of “The Barber of Seville” under the direction of W. Crutchfield took place, where she sang Rosina party. One of the highlights was 2008, when she made her debut at Warsaw Philharmonic in F. Schubert’ Mass No.5 in A-flat under the direction of W. Weller and the performance of “Christmas Oratorio” by J. S. Bach at the Silesian Philharmonic. 2010 was a successful year since she debuted in “Norma”, where she brilliantly performed a part of Norma alongside Zoran Todorovich. In 2011, she debuted performing “Requiem” by G. Verdi at the inauguration of Gdansk International Organ Music Festival at the Oliwa Cathedral. She also starred in the inauguration of the opening season of the Symphony Orchestra in Toruń “Angelus” by Kilar. In 2012, she debuted on the stage of the Opera in Bytom with Traviata part directed by W. Ochman. In 2013, she performed in a concert version of “The Bat” under direction of A. Klocek. In 2015, she appeared in Puccini ‘s “La Boheme” with Mimi part – concert version conducted by Tadeusz Wojciechowski from Rzeszów Philharmonic. 2016 is a year of great productions at the Polish National Opera – the main part in “Goplana” directed by Janusz Wisniewski and the role of Hanna in “The Haunted Manor “by Stanislaw Moniuszko, directed by David Poutney. Her repertoire consists of grand opera roles, including Queen of the Night – The Magic Flute, La Traviata – Violetta, Gilda from Rigoletto, Hanna from the Haunted Manor, Mimi from La Boheme and Rosina from the Barber of Seville.
